no links, but would love the ability to play for certain factions. sansha, serpentis, caldari state.
live events are a BLAST in eve. last one had us shooting dreadnoughts in highsec. would love to see something similar come to dust |

The battle for Caldari Prime was frinkin EPIC!!!! and having even more in depth stuff would be even better.
My corp is aligned with the Minmatar in FW and we would love some more missions against the Amarr. Things like a raiding mission where you need to hack a single objective that's wayyyy back beind the opposite team who have all the ground and installations between you and the terminal and you only have limited clones, then hold it for a couple of minutes to take over something EVE side or give you something cool via FW points like the eve boys get.
Or an assassination mission similar to the Quafe drop suit event, where you could have an enemy General or Scientist (controlled by someone from CCP I guess) on the battlefield one full team is his bodyguard and the other a single squad who need to kill him or her to decide the fate of the area. Or rather than make it so final by killing the VIP have it give a boost to whichever side is victorious such as extra clones for the victor or maybe a precision strike from the start of the next game.
I duno I've got farrr to many ideas to write down but the raiding mission is one of my favourites.

Snagman 313 wrote:Ok here's a few idea's that I had for missions which could really bring a larger Role playing aspect into Dust, there are some which require the drones to be implemented but from what I hear it shouldn't be too far off.
Firstly real FW campaigns where you help by taking strategic planets for your faction. Such as Space elevators, Ship yards, mining facilities, research centres and so forth. Much of this would be the same as we are doing now but it would be more dedicated with specific maps for these installations and different ways to capture different things. For instance a Space elevator could be attacked from low orbit having you drop onto a maintenance platform and as you take each level through clearing enemies and hacking control panels to take control of sentry guns you then jump off and down onto the next one and so on until you reach the surface and wrest control of the base complex. However the defender would be able to quickly deploy ground units to the surface and platforms as they would already have control prior to the assault, and as a curve ball when you make it to the surface the defenders could then get the option to self destruct the elevator but this would have say a 10 minute timer only when you land on the surface and could be back hacked. Another example could be the Mining complex where after taking the upper structure you then have to head down into the tunnels to clear the enemy out as they could have CRU's and Supply depots down there with drop uplinks all over the place, not to mention other surprises. It would be very dark and claustrophobic with you having to stack up and then opening up into huge caverns now and again. This could also work well for drone missions i.e a hacker sent the mining robots on a rampage clear them out. You might put in objectives in which you blow certain tunnels to prevent redeployment of the enemy but in others you might be told not to due to the value of the mine. The possibility for being restricted the use of certain weaponry due to the risk of explosions could be something else depending on the substance being mined.
When the drones come in I think we'll just have the plain old 'clear the area' missions but they open up a lot of new possibilities like extracting a VIP from the area. So you would land somewhere hopefully sneak to the area the VIP is hiding then try to get them back however the longer you are on the ground the more drones will realise you are there, and the longer you take the more drones will start finding you so speed would be of the essence. You would also need to have guys protecting your dropship or landing site.
Another Idea I had with drones was that Sansha had dropped a load onto a planet and they were about to attack an outpost (which could be anything from a clone MFU to Empress Jamyl's weekend getaway). Now time would be of the essence so at the start only 1 squad can deploy then if the manage to hold the line for say 5 minutes another squad may join the battle and so on until there are 4 squads holding the outpost against say 150 drones. It would be a bit like survival on other FPS's but using specific maps and faction stuff onto the drones could give a simple Mercenary match real meaning, especially if it was protecting a specific person or installation.
Then I also have an idea for a real Ambush type mission which could be used to choke districts of Clones or supplies. This would need to be used carefully alongside FW matches but essentially you would have this short mission between the larger skirmishes and it would go a bit like this. 2 player teams, 1 is guarding a convoy of automated heavy transport vehicles the other is landed further away and has to destroy the convoy. If the convoy is destroyed there is a penalty against the guard team and if it survives they get a bonus on the next skirmish on that planet in FW.
Another thing I quite liked the idea of was trying to capture orbital defences, there has already been quite a few hints at this in the videos from CCP but I think it could be expanded to the degree where if you lose control of your Orbital guns or Anti Aircraft Artillery in a neighbouring disrict that you may not be able to call down supplies or vehicles. So for instance the Caldari send a small crack team in to hack the AAA in an area just to prevent the Gallente calling in their armour in the neighbouring one and this could be used as a stand alone mission for dedicated Role players helping their faction or as part of a major offensive.
Now obviously most of my ideas for RP are really ideas for missions but something like these missions being posted by factions in the Mercenary missions regularly and having real EVE consequences could give you a great place to make your character into who you want them to be, whether a Minmatar supported from Caldari prime, an Amarrian pirate who forsook his oath to god or simply a Gallente merc out to make some cash. Not to mention if there was a medal system implemented then you could also track your mercs history through his campaign medals.
Hopefully I didn't go off onto too much of a tangent,
regards

DUST-specific RP isn't so much "a thing" yet; what we want, we'll have to build. Happily, we've got a much more immersive game to work with than those poor bastards up there with cameras panning around their ships (Eve's core gameplay isn't even over-the-shoulder-- it's more like a version of "Homeworld" in which you only control one ship).
While it would be great to get our own spaces established, a strong existing one is "The Summit" in-game channel, which is a (arguably "the") major Eve RP channel. Bear in mind if you join it that it's a comms channel, not a physical or even virtual place, and it's majority-Eve (at least for now, heh heh), so you're likely to run into the occasional arrogant capsuleer throwing weight around. Also, it maintains minimum standards of civility, so keep it semi-polite unless you're looking to get banned.
i use the live events channel, OOC (out of character) but great for socializing with eve guys going over live events |

Maikyl Metsar wrote:Hey, if you're interested in Amarr RP check out PIE Inc. The corp has been around for ten years and has had a strong role in shaping the EVE universe. We have a friendly crowd of players and love to see new faces. Our work in DUST has just started and we have been recruiting merc. Learn a bit at www.pieinc.co.uk, or just chat with us in our channel, PIE Public. We don't care about skill level, kdr, or any of that crap. Just people who want to have fun playing DUST and RPing. Be warned, PIE only recruits Amarr, Ni-kunni, and Khanid, but other races are welcome to join the Praetorian Auxillary Force, another corp in our alliance. Also, PIE's pilots are known for only flying Amarr and Khanid hulls. While right now it isn't totally viable, we do plan on similar restrictions in dust in terms of dropsuits and vehicles. So if you want to join one of New Eden's premier RP corps, enlist today and serve God and the Empire. Defend the children of Amarr and stand resolute against all threats to our dominion.
as a caldari loyalist in RP, i am curious, where would i fit in (fly ammar and caldari ships in eve) |
